The Production Planning Manager establishes, manages, reviews, and maintains production schedules for companywide operations, to ensure master production schedule is being executed consistent with meeting customer delivery requirements. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the management of a team of production planning professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Creates production schedules built from a number tools including a sales forecast, historical customer demand, open orders, raw material inventory, and lead times established for the products being produced.
  • Measures execution relative to schedule and reports actual and potential delivery issues on a real time basis to production management and customer care.
  • Analyzes work center loads for efficient capacity planning and ensures accurate inventories by effectively addressing any labor reporting issues.
  • Reports on the metrics associated with the order fulfillment process and includes adherence to schedule, percentage of orders within lead time, percentage orders shipped on time, work in progress inventory, and major causes of delivery issues.
  • Works with and effectively communicates with all levels of the organization to actively improve the scheduling and production process, including the definition and implementation of systems and methods which optimize delivery performance.
  • Consistently interacts with Plant Managers to ensure the production schedule is executed according to plan.


Key Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management is preferred
  • Experience in scheduling systems and methods using ERP/MRP and Excel is required
  • 3+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to effectively schedule production across multiple plants and products.
  • Ability to manage and direct a team of production planning professionals.
  • Experience using sales forecasts, production history, internal inventory, raw material delivery, quality status reports, and plant capacity utilization.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management is preferred
