Wixon Inc. has introduced 12 new flavors designed for consumers seeking food to connect with their mood.

"Our research indicates that as consumers get more adventurous in their tasting experiences, they also want flavors that recall a certain experience or trigger an emotion," says Wixon Flavor Chemist Mindy Edwards.

The FDA recently has decided that colors derived from cochineal extract and carmine will now have to be labeled on food and cosmetics by the common names to alert those consumers that may have allergy concerns about these insect-derived substances. This highlights the fact that many consumers want to know what is in their food and where it is coming from.
