Inventory Management

Convenience, cost-savings, and guaranteed quality are some of the major benefits customers derive from using Wixon's inventory management option. The system is particularly advantageous for manufacturers of seasonal products since peak sale periods can be tracked to determine the approximate quantity of specially-blended spices and seasonings a customer needs for each production run. Wixon is able to keep pace with its ingredient supplies and passes along the savings from larger production runs. Contact Wixon's Marketing Department at 414-769-3000

As an example, we've had a valued customer for the past 20-some years that manufactures a sausage product which is fairly seasonal. As is true of many seasonal items, this product is weather-driven. On a sunny, warm weekend, the sausages move quickly off the grocers' shelves. When it's cold, gloomy, and rainy, business is noticeably slower. Because sausage is perishable, predicting reasonable production amounts can be tricky.

The solution has been customized inventory management via an off-site, atmospherically-controlled warehouse. Based on sales during prior years, the customer and Wixon determined peak sales periods and the approximate quantities of specially-blended spices and seasonings the customer needed for each production run.

We know that for peak flavor levels, optimal shelf life of our seasonings is 90 days. Accordingly, we prepare, ship, and stock the amount we agree is likely to be needed in a given period. Wixon completely manages this inventory, maintaining levels based on fluctuations in the industry. The off-site warehouse is convenient to the customer who simply picks up the quantity necessary. Another bonus is improved cash flow since the customer doesn't pay for the seasonings until they are picked up.

This system has tremendous advantages for both of us. It eliminates any problems that could arise from "rush" orders. Instead, each seasoning batch is perfectly blended, perfectly packaged, QA/QC-tested, and ready to go.
