The Quality Control Process:
Quality Before it Arrives at Wixon
Our global Vendor Quality Management Program qualifies the right vendors though a number of processes including ongoing vendor audits, partnership agreements and performance monitoring. Each raw material must meet Wixon’s strict quality standards before it will be accepted.
Upon Arrival at Wixon
All spices, herbs, and other bulk shipments undergo a thorough inspection and must meet rigorous standards before further processing.
Wixon's quality lab is furnished with modern equipment and staff trained to conduct the wide variety of tests necessary to ensure the quality of the raw materials to be used in our products. Testing capabilities include:
- Surface color
- Extractable color
- Loss on drying
- Volatile oil, ash
- Particle size
- SPME analysis
Quality During Food Ingredient Processing
Wixon conducts random inspections throughout processing, including checking for accurate weight, color, viscosity, flavor, texture, and chemical composition. This includes specific targeting of equipment and plant sanitation, pest and allergen control, and formal employee training. Our food product testing program requires each batch of finished product to be sampled and tested to our quality standards before release. Testing may include:
- Particle definition
- Salt content
- Specific gravity
- Water activity among many others.
Packaged products are monitored during processing for weight control, lot coding, and conformance to our internal specifications.
Quality When It Leaves Wixon
Our trained Quality Assurance/Quality Control teams rigorously perform scheduled and spot testing throughout each phase of product manufacturing and maintain exhaustive records of product profiles and performance. For each finished food and ingredient product leaving Wixon, a fully traceable electronic record of each product and its components remains behind for recall purposes.
